Dogs welcome

If you're one of the estimated 10 million+ dog owners in the UK then you'll be delighted to know that its easier than ever to bring your dog away with you for that longed-for weekend escape or summer break.

Your four legged friend will love joining you to explore our great Sussex gardens, visitor attractions, beaches and green spaces. Some of the best loved attractions in our corner of West Sussex happily welcome dogs (many do ask for them to be on a short lead) so you can enjoy places like Weald & Downland Living Museum, West Dean Gardens and Fishbourne Roman Palace (to name just a few) with all members of the family, human and dog! Please be sure to check the individual guidelines at each attractions so you're prepared.

Great Dog Walks

There are endless opportunities for walks; from steep ascents with incredible views like the Halnaker Windmill Walk or countryside rambles amongst the stunning scenery of the South Downs National Park to adventures along the unspoilt coast. Whether you're on four legs or two, you can choose something challenging, or opt for a slower and more relaxing pace.

Dog Friendly Eating & Drinking

Stop for refreshments at a diverse selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants which will happily cater for your dog - many places like Fitzcane's in Midhurst offer treats like doggy ice cream.

Dog Friendly Accommodation

Some of Sussex's hotels, B&Bs and holiday homes want to take the worry out of travelling with your dog and offer your pet a warm welcome. Canine companions are fully catered for with 'Muddy Paws' packages on offer at The Welldiggers Arms. Here you can expect special sausage breakfasts and doggy treats- you might even treat your dog to a doggy beer.  The Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa in Midhurst, welcomes dogs with cosy beds and water bowls, as well as a 'Ruff n Tumble' drying coat to take home - perfect after a day exploring the Sussex countryside. You can even book your four legged friend in for a wash or groom. Dog Friendly rooms at The Goodwood Hotel come with dog beds, bags and treats, and walking maps, and for the VIP touch, a dog crate with treats, toys, waterbottle and special doggy bow-tie. You can even book your four-legged friend in for dog playdates, dog yoga or behaviour therapy sessions.
