As well as selecting the Top 10 antiques and vintage shops in West Sussex, we wanted to delve a little deeper—what drives the passionate individuals behind these treasure troves? We asked each shop owner or dealer about their unique selling point, what they specialise in, and their thoughts on current and future trends. From their insights, clear patterns emerged: customers are increasingly seeking well-made pieces that stand the test of time, with a growing love for gardenalia as people spend more time outdoors. Mid-century design remains ever popular, and there’s a noticeable demand for decorative, unusual finds and beautifully painted antique furniture. Their top tips? Friendliness and flattery will definitely get you a better price. Buy what you love—antiques are about connection as much as style. We also asked for their favourite local eateries where antique hunters can pause and recharge—because no vintage adventure is complete without a cosy café or character-filled lunch spot along the way.
