Sussex wines have been winning rave reviews for the last few years, impressing critics and achieving accolades, and now well-deserved recognition has come in the form of a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) under the new UK Geographical Indication (GI) scheme.

Gail Gardner, owner at Ashling Park Estate near Chichester explains “This designation recognises the unique quality of Sussex wines and will help consumers find wines made from grapes grown exclusively in Sussex, which are unique as they come from the sunniest county in England and our vines benefit from minerals in the chalky soils that span the area.”
