Celebrating the Christmas time at Chichester Cathedral is an unforgettable experience, whether you join one of the candlelit carol services or witness the wonder of the atmospheric advent procession marking the beginning of advent. 

When are Chichester Cathedral's Carol Services?

Chichester Cathedral Carol services are a celebration of Christmas where you can enjoy congregational carols and uplifting music sung by the melodious Cathedral Choir. Doors open an hour before the service. These services are free to attend and do not need to be pre-booked.

The Chichester Cathedral Advent Procession

The Advent Procession takes place Sunday 30th November at 4.30pm. No prior booking is required as everyone is welcome at this special service to mark the beginning of the season of Advent. Hear readings and carols sung by the Cathedral Choir and witness darkness transformed to light as the candlelit procession moves around the Cathedral.

Twixmas at Chichester Cathedral

Chichester Cathedral will be open for general visits and guided tours from Boxing Day until New Year's Eve and on New Year's Day from 9.00am - 4.00pm. Daily guided tours of the Cathedral run at 11:30am and 2:30pm. You can drop in to these fascinating talks, with no need to book. You'll spend around 45 minutes exploring some of the key moments and figures which appear in the rich tapestry of the Cathedral's 950 years of history. Guided Tours cost £6.00 per person with under 12s Free. 

Spire Tours run on 27th and 31st December. You do need to book your Spire Tours in advance (you can do this here). The climb up (there's 164 spiral steps) through historic spaces not often seen by the public results in astonishing views of Chichester, Goodwood and far, far beyond, learning more about this ancient building.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day at Chichester Cathedral

Join the Cathedral for Evensong at 4pm on New Year's Eve and 4pm on New Year's Day and enjoy music from a visiting Choir; the Martus Ensemble from the Netherlands.
