The Spread Eagle is one of England’s oldest coaching inns, in the centre of Midhurst at the heart of the South Downs National Park with thirty-nine delightful bedrooms and a thoroughly modern spa.

Dating back to 1430, history, character and charm await you around every corner. There are fascinating stories associated with many of the rooms: a secret passage reputedly used by fleeing smugglers, a wig closet that may be the last one left in a hotel in England and a suite said to have welcomed Queen Elizabeth I.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, mid-morning coffee or a full afternoon tea. With its inglenook fireplace and welcoming atmosphere our restaurant is a stunning setting or you may like to sit by the fire in our oak-beamed bar or bask in the warmth of our conservatory. When the sun shines head outside to our terrace or inner courtyard.

Families and dogs are extremely welcome.
