
The 100 mile national trail of the South Downs Way is a fantastic long distance walking route which winds its way through picturesque villages and towns, a variety of landscapes and habitats across some of the most beautiful English countryside, rewarding you with outstanding views.

How long does it take to walk the whole trail?
To complete the entire 100 mile national trail takes between seven to nine days, however you can appreciate the fantastic views and scenery of the route in small sections to suit your timescale.
During your walk you will explore a variety of landscapes and habitats, see a range of wildlife, pass through quintessentially English towns and villages, make steep climbs and descents and enjoy views which stretch for miles. Accommodation in B&Bs and local pubs can be found close to the trail, for example Moonlight Cottage and The Blue Bell.
Where can I access the South Downs Way close to Chichester?
It’s easy to pick up the South Downs Way close to Chichester and you will be well rewarded for your efforts. You can park at the following locations, or make your way to them using public transport: Cocking Village, a few miles south of Midhurst, Harting Down or Bignor Hill near Amberley.
