Accessible Trishaw rides around Chichester
For those who are affected by or recuperating from mental or physical illness, or for the elderly, and children and adults that have learning, medical or mobility difficulties, Brightride provides an enjoyable, hassle-free way to get out for some fresh air and a change of scenery on a piloted trishaw ride.
A “trishaw” is a specially built bicycle to allow 2 passengers to be piloted by a volunteer. We are very fortunate to have successfully obtained funding through the Chichester City Council for Chichester’s first very own trishaw!
Passengers are safely piloted around the local area, passing local sights and places of interest, and into nature. Rides are slow and allow for stops to chat with passers-by; they can vary in length and route depending on the situation. We are not a taxi service; we help people get some fresh air, revive memories and have a good nosey around to see what’s happening!
We offer two lengths of route:
Standard Ride – around 1 hour long, either around town or into nature. Click here for more details on our recommended routes.
Adventure Ride – around 2 hours long, going a little further afield to Bosham, Chichester Marina or West Dean (coming soon).
Safety is our priority. The trishaw is a very stable bike, rides are slow and all routes have been risk-assessed. Lap belts are provided and the safety and comfort of passengers is paramount.
We are able to ride whatever the weather – the bike comes with a rain proof canopy and waterproof blanket – the right equipment for the wrong weather!
Cost – All rides are offered on a “Pay What You Want” basis – if you can’t afford anything, no problems!
Our guide price is £5 per person for a Standard Ride, £10 per person for an Adventure Ride. We are a non-profit organisation and all funds help us to continue operating and to grow to offer our services to more people in future.
