Being the county of dog lovers, it may come as no surprise that Sussex has practically a whole coastline of dog-friendly beaches to choose from.
On a clear day, enjoy incredible views across to the Isle of Wight from Selsey’s Marine Beach – a year-round dog-friendly pebble beach – or make the most of the largest beach in Selsey at East Beach (please note that there are seasonal restrictions are in place for one area of this beach).
From 1 May to 30 September there are some designated dog-free zones in place at the famous white-sand beach of West Wittering (pre-book parking only), as well as neighbouring East Wittering and further down the coastline at the surfer’s paradise of Bracklesham Bay however outside of these zones, there’s a variety of walks and spaces to enjoy with your dog.
Between March 1 and July 31 dog walkers are also kindly asked to help protect ground nesting birds by keeping dogs on leads and staying out of the roped off areas.
With a selection of fantastic cafes and ice-cream stops at most beaches, both human and hound will be spoilt for choice.
