Chichester Roman Week takes place every May half term and celebrates Chichester’s rich Roman heritage with a series of district-wide events designed to engage visitors of all ages.
Led by The Novium Museum, the week-long event includes talks, trails, guided tours, family activities, immersive theatre and virtual events.
Chichester was first established as Noviomagnus Reginorum, which translates to ‘New market of the proud people’ after the Roman invasion in AD43. Their legacy can be found across the city, including magnificent features such as the Roman walls surrounding the city and the Roman bathhouse located in The Novium Museum.
We are able to bring this incredible event to you thanks to public funding by Arts Council England.
This year, we have planned a variety of virtual and ‘in person’ events. Please note that Chichester Roman Week 2021 will take place within Government guidelines relating to Covid-19 at the time of each event. In the event that we need to cancel or postpone, you will be contacted by our team and a full refund will be offered.
