Just five minutes north of Chichester, Hunters Lodge is ideally situated for guests visiting our beautiful county. Originally built in 1650 as a drovers’ rest for downland shepherds and later a hunting lodge on the Goodwood estate, we are close to Goodwood, West Dean College and Gardens and the Weald and Downland Living Museum. Over the centuries, the house has been modified and extended but in the early 1900s, it became the Hunters Inn. A treasured part of the local community, it played host to weddings and christenings, meetings and parties. It ceased to trade around year 2000 and restoration began in 2006.
We offer three spacious, en-suite bedrooms. With magnificent views across South Downs National Park, each bedroom has its own individual character, charm and appeal. Our Aga-cooked breakfasts are enjoyed around the large dining room table and the comfortable sitting room invites guests to relax, unwind and enjoy home-made tea and cake on arrival.
